Paul Holmes

Paul will tear a strip off any movie that he feels deserves it. Unlike most film reviewers in the world, Paul likes horror movies and isn’t unnecessarily cruel toward them.

Paul will often include a spoiler in his reviews, but will attempt to reveal when this happens so as not to spoil every movie you watch.

Favourite actors: Brad Pitt, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jack Nicholson

Favourite actresses: Jodie Foster, Demi Moore, Kathy Bates

Most underrated comedies: Run Ronnie Run (2002), Top Secret (1984)

Most overrated movies that were actually pretty awful: The Pink Panther (2006), The Fisher King (1991), Barton Fink (1991)

I am an almost semi-retired inhabitant of a small community on the northernmost part of Vancouver Island, where I live with my husband (well, my third husband to be exact), and our pets. My past is really none of your business, so I won’t go into it here. But at present I am a freelancer, writing often for the North Island Gazette, a local paper that services several of the surrounding communities.

I have no intention of presenting an unbiased point of view, having given that notion up as an absurdity long ago. I enjoy watching movies, so my slant is possibly biased in favor of the movie, rather than against.

I am not interested in your opinion of me, so don’t bother to comment in that regards. However, if you have a difference of opinion regarding any of the movies I have critiqued, please feel free to post your comments.
